How to make a corset patterns for a dress or waist cincher?

1. Make the wearer use a comfortable bra without any padding and underwire. Measure around her bust line, this is the fullest part of the breast. Round this measurement to the nearest half inch for your corset patterns.

2. Take an accurate measurement of her waist and if possible, her natural waistline. This is located around the belly button for reference. Round the measurement to the nearest half inch as well.

3. Measure the sides for the corset patterns by starting from your waist up to several inches to your armpit. With the wearer using a bra, stop at the edge of the bra near the armpit.

4. It is your choice if you want the front portion of the corset longer than the back for a truly Victorian inspired corset.

5. Your bust measurement must be divided by two to get the bust line of your corset patterns. After determining the bust line, measure three inches from the end and mark this point as point A. Divide your bust line by two and then add 2 to the total, mark this point B. Continue dividing your bust line by 2 and then divide into 2 again and mark this point C. Draw a curving line between marked lines.

6. Making the back of the corset is also basically the same with making the font part but instead of the bust line as the point of reference, the waist line becomes important in making the most accurate measurements.
